Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Tymeka Coney graduated from DeSoto High School in DeSoto,Texas. She holds an Associate of Applied Arts degree from K.D. Studio Actors Conservatory with an emphasis in Theatre Arts, Script Analysis and Film Production in Dallas, Texas, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology/English-Dramatic Writing from Texas Tech University in Lubbock,Texas. While attending Texas Tech University, Tymeka was a DJ/On Air Radio Personality for 88.1 College radio station and KISS 102.3 FM radio station.
Tymeka was also crowned Miss Black and Gold and Most Talented for penning an original monologue in a pageant honoring the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
She resides in Los Angeles, California, where she enjoys directing, casting, and writing poetry, songs, and comedy, as well as producing/writing television and feature film screenplays. Tymeka recently Wrote/Produced/Directed two Stage plays to sold out crowds, “The Truth Musical Stage play,” @ Barnsdall Theatre, Hollywood, CA and “Love Makeover Musical Stage play,” @ Chromolume Theatre, Culver City, CA. She is also a Content Creator currently developing a slate of 25 Reality Shows she created, along with 5 feature films and three TV sitcoms she has created and written.
Tymeka enjoys performing, including spoken word, stand-up comedy, modeling, rapping, stage and screen acting, and recording lyrics in the studio, as well as coordinating events and public relations.
She is the CEO of Meek Entertainment & PR, a full service Indie Entertainment & PR company. Tymeka has been producing & coordinating/consulting for live events over a span of 15 years. Some of her events have featured several celebrities: Willie Norwood-Father of Famed singers -Brandy & Ray J, Doris Day Bowman-Mother of A-List actor Anthony Anderson, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Actress Meagan Good, Actress Imani Hakim, Actress Cocoa Brown & Actress Kiki Haynes - Tyler Perry’s “For Better or For Worse.” She received a certificate of recognition from Los Angeles Mayor Villaraigosa for her outstanding work in the community for creating an event for the 2012 Election year. In 2014, she assisted Director/Writer Gina Prince Bythewood & her husband Producer Reggie Rock Bythewood with a grassroots PR campaign to further promote their box office film Produced by BET & Relativity Media, “Beyond The Lights.”
Tymeka has appeared on MTV’s reality television game show, “Yo Momma,” with host Wilmer Valderrama and GSN show, “Lingo,” w/ Chuck Woolery and worked with Talent/Media & PR at the BET Awards for several years. At the Hollywood Black Film Festival 2017, she received an honorable mention for her acting chops from Casting Director Leah Daniels –Butler, and she was recently the Assistant to Ayuko Babu-Founder of the Pan African Film Festival in 2018 where the film P.A.W.G. was an official selection in the festival of which she was credited as 1st Assistant Director. Her comedy TV Pilot, “The Christians,” was an official selection in the Miami Epic Trailer Festival, and the Indie Wise Festival. Another project she produced, “It’s Really Renee,” TV pilot was an official selection and received “Best Comedy” at the Caribbean Lens International Film festival. Her 1st ever Drama Short she wrote, produced and directed in 2006 was in the 19th Annual African American Film Marketplace & S.E. Manly Short Film Showcase @ Raleigh Studios, Hollywood, CA.
In her spare time, she gives back to the community by tutoring students in English, teaching them how to read and write, and coaching acting. Tymeka Coney's poems have been featured in two Los Angeles magazines: I Live to Succeed in the Air I Breathe appeared in Rolling Out Magazine and I Am a Lady was published in Melt Magazine. She is also a published Author of a poetry book, “Words Unspoken: Volume I,” available on Amazon.com & Barnesandnoble.com, and she has a Spoken word CD, “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Dreams,” available on Amazon.com and Itunes.com.
